Clinical observation of Zhuifeng Tougu pills in the treating of early-stage and midstage knee osteoarthritis

Objective To explore the clinical curative effect of Zhuifeng Tougu pills in the treating of early-stage and mid-stage knee osteoarthritis. Methods 68 patients with early-stage and mid-stage knee osteoarthritis were randomized into treatment group and control group,treated with Zhuifeng Tougu pills and Celebrex respectively. One treatment course lasted for four weeks,and after treatment courses,the clinical efficacies were analyzed based upon index of severity for osteoarthritis of the knee (Knee ISOA). Results The comparison of the total effective rates in the two groups showed that,the total effective rate in the group treated with Zhuifeng Tougu pills was 88.89%,and the total effective rate in the group treated with Celebrex was 90.62%,with no significant difference in the total effective rates of the two groups (P0.01);there were no significant differences in index of severity for osteoarthritis of the knee (Knee ISOA) before and after treatment (P0.01),and no significant intergroup difference (P0.05). Conclusion Zhuifeng Tougu pills could release the pain of early-stage and mid-stage knee osteoarthritis,and improve the joint function of knee.
