Abstract

Objective:To explore the validity and clinical value of mechanical ventilation in treatment of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS).Methods:75 neonates with NRDS were treated by mechanical ventilation.Results:Of 75 neonates with NRDS, 50 cases were cured (66.7%),18 cases were died (24.0%),7 cases gave up treatment.There was significant difference between oxygen inhalation with helmet and mechanical ventilation used in NRDS. The curative rate of NRDS (77.8%) from 2000 to 2003 was significantly higher than that (50.0%) from 1996 to 1999.The complications resulted from mechanical ventilation in 2000~2003 were significantly lower than that in lasted 4 years.Conclusion:The comprehensive ereatment which mechanical ventilation is as the main coneant should be an important measurement for enhancing rescue success rate of NRDS.
