Abstract
Objective: To detect the effects of Ni-Cr based Porcelain-fused-to-metal(PFM)crown on the periodontal tissue. Methods: 29 maxillary incisors in 24 patients with Ni-Cr based PFM crowns were included in this study with contralateral homonymy natural teeth as control teeth. The patients were followed up 6 to 9 months after crowns placement. The gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) samples were collected and weighed. Then the clinical parameters such as plaque index (PLI)、probing depth (PD) and sulcus bleeding index (SBI) were recorded for the test and control groups. IL-1βand AST levels of GCF were analysed. Results: After the placement of Ni-Cr based PFM which was clinically accepted, although the changes of GCF volume and PLI were insignificant, the concentration of IL-1β、AST、PD and SBI increased. Conclusion: Ni-Cr based PFM crowns which clinically accepted have negative influences on periodontal tissue.
