Abstract
Objective To know the germicidal efficacy and disifection-related properties of chlorhexidine alcohol disinfection solution containing chlorhexidine acetate and ethanol as its main germicidal ingredients. Methods Suspension quantitative germicidal test and animal toxicity test were used to carry out experimental observation. Results The killing logarithm values of Staphylococcus aureus,Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa exposed to the stock solution of chlorhexidine alcohol disinfection solution containing chlorhexidine acetate 2600 mg/L and 70% ethanol for 0.5 min were 5.00 and that of Candida albicans exposed for 0.5 min was 4.00.The average killing logarithm value of the natural bacteria on skin of medial side of forearm and hand wiped with the stock solution of the disinfection solution for 1 min was ≥1.00.The acute oral toxicity test of the disinfection solution showed that its LD50 in both rats and mice was 5000 mg/kg(body weight) which is practically non-toxic.Its stock solution was non-irritating to rabbit skin and had weak sensitizing effect.Subacute toxicity test result showed that it didi not induce positive sign and the hematological indexes were negative. Conclusion Chlorhexidine alcohol disinfectant has good germicidal efficacy and belongs to non-toxic substance in animal test.
