Abstract

Objective To study the change of a hemoglobin(Hb) concentration predicting the prognosis in patients with chronic heart failure(CHF).Methods Two hundred and nineteen patients with a principal diagrnosis of CHF were included. This was a one-center registry study.Anemia was defined as a Hb Level120g/L in men and 110g/L in women. Results The Hb level was gradually decreased(P 0.001) and the incidence of anemia gradually increased (P0.05), while the cardic function was getting worse in patients with CHF. The group of the anemia's patients had higher mortality(P0.001),higher rehospitalization ( P0.05)and longer time in hospital (P 0.001) than the group of no anemia' patients with CHF during follow-up.Conclusion Anemia is confirmed to be an independent negative prognostic factor in patients with CHF.
