Abstract
Objective To observe the effect of Danshen (Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae) Injection used together with 5-fluorouracil (5-Fu) on the apoptosis of Lewis lung tumor mice. Methods Sixty C57BL/6 mice with Lewis lung tumors were randomized into model control group, Danshen high-dose group and low-dose group, 5-Fu group, Danshen high-dose with 5-Fu group, and Danshen low-dose with 5-Fu group, with 10 in each. All mice were intraperitoneally injected 0.2ml everyday from the second day of inoculation. The 5-Fu group was injected for 5 days in succession, the united 5-Fu groups were given the mixture of 5-Fu and Danshen injection first for 5 days and then Danshen injection in continuation for 5 days, and the other groups were all given medicine for 10 days in succession. Twenty-four hours after the last administration, the eyeballs of mice were removed for collecting the orbital blood, and then were sacrificed. The routine blood test, weight of tumors, apoptosis index, the number of main organ metastases and the pathological changes were observed. Results Compared with the model control group, the weight of tumors of the Danshen low-dose group and high-dose group was decreased (P0.05), the weight of tumors of the 5-Fu group, the Danshen low-dose with 5-Fu group and Danshen high-dose with 5-Fu group were significantly decreased (P0.01); apoptosis index of tumor cells of the Danshen high-dose group, 5-Fu group, Danshen low-dose with 5-Fu group, and Danshen high-dose with 5-Fu group were all increased (P0.05). Conclusion Danshen Injection is effective in enhancing the inhibition of 5-Fu for tumor and promoting the apoptosis of Lewis lung tumor mice.
