On the Interpretation of News Value

Abstract
is a core concept of journalism.Though our predecessors achieved substantial research results,more scientific methods can be used to construct a new theory of news value——the Three-tier Theory of News Value.To be specific,the first level of this theory aims to probe into news' usefulness to the people and society;the second level of this theory tries to research news' specific standards and their special qualities to disseminate information;the third level of this theory aims to interpret the exchange value of news in the information market.Besides,in the three major levels mentioned above,a lot of specific minor levels can be classified,which shows the extreme complexity of the connotation of news value or in other words,the richness of the meaning of news value.
