Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the effect of ulinastatin against gastrointestinal complications in patients with septic shock.Methods:Seventy-six patients with septic shock were randomly divided into two groups:treatment group(n=38)and control group(n=38).All patients in two groups were treated according to the Guardline of 2004 for rescuing severe septic shock. The patients in treatment group received intravenous ulinastatin of 200 000 U once every eight hours for one week in addiction to routine treatment. Results:In comparison with control group, the occurrence of toxic ileus, stress ulcer,MODS and mortality decreased obviously(P0.05)in treatment group. Conclusion:Tryspin inhibitor(ulinastatin)can reduce the occurrence of gastroparesis, toxic ileus, stress ulcer, superinfection,MODS and mortality in patients with septic shock.
