Analysis of irrational drug usage in outpatient and emergency prescription

Abstract

Objective To investigate the type and causes of irrational drug use in this hospital. Methods Randomly elected 1600 prescriptions from outpatient and emergency in our hospital,counted and analyzed the situation of irrational drug use in the prescriptions. Results 197 cases (12.3%) of unreasonable prescriptions were found in 1600 prescriptions,among that,abuse of antibiotics 79 prescriptions (4.9%) take the largest proportion,followed repeated drug use 30 prescriptions (1.9%) and diagnosis and treatment inconsistent with the purposes 25 prescriptions(1.6%) . Conclusion Rational drug use is important and difficulty for the pharmacist and physician at this stage. The rational drug usage in our hospital still needs improvement,it needs the efforts of the social and hospital,in order to improve the level of rational drug usage.
