Analysis of 12232 Prescriptions from Outpatient and Emergency Departments

Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the irrational drug use in prescriptions from outpatient and emergency departments in our hospital in order to improve rational drug use.METHODS:Prescriptions from outpatient and emergency departments in the first half year of 2007 were collected.The irrational prescriptions were sorted and analyzed according to requirements stated in Chinese Pharmacopoeia,package insert and Prescription Administration Principle.RESULTS:A total of 12232 prescriptions including 2637 of antibiotics prescriptions and 1 456 of injection were analyzed.569 irrational prescriptions accounted for 4.65%,problems of which were about usage and dosage,use of solvent and drug combination.CONCLUSION:The drug use in prescriptions from outpatient and emergency departments is basically rational.Drug use should be improved further because some problems still exist in it.
