On the Property Rights System of Farmland in China and Increasing the Income of Farmers

This paper discusses the clarification,incidence and effectiveness of the farmland prop- erty rights in China's countryside land system from the point of view of law and economics.It is pointed out that ambiguous property right of farmland in China's countryside is the key element that constraints the development of agriculture.Furthermore,the vague administrative limits of authority of government officers and the high cost of protecting property right have blocked the appearance of efficient economic organization in the countryside,which is one of the main factors that hinder the rise of farmers income.Therefore,abolishing the administrative and economic rights will be the ultimate measure to resolve the farmland dispute,as well as the burden of taxes and fees in the countryside.
