Abstract
Objective:To investigate different expression of CD117 on acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and acute lymphoid leukemia (ALL) and its significance as a specific myeloid marker.Method:Immuno phenotype was analyzed by three-color flow cytometry using CD45/SSC gating.Result:CD117 was positive in only 2% patients with ALL, whereas 56.9 % patients with AML. The expression of CD117 was lower in AML-M3 patients than in other subtype of AML. The results of statistical analysis showed that CD117 specificity to detect myeloid involvement was 0.98 with a sensitivity of 0.57 .Conclusion:CD117 is a useful marker for distinguishing myeloid from lymphoid leukemia, and CD117 provides greater specificity compared with CD13 and CD33 ( P 0.005 ).
