The investigation of histogenesis and significance of expression of p63 on pulmonary sclerosing hemangioma

Purpose To investigate the histogenesis clinicopathologic characteristic,diagnosis and differentiatial diagnosis of pulmonary sclerosing hemangioma(SH) and its significance of expression of p63 were discussed.Methods 12 cases of pulmonary sclerosing hemangioma were reevaluated and 9 cases were studied by immunohistochemical methods.Results SH contained 2 kinds of tumor cell: polygonal or round tumor cells and cuboidal tumor cells and 4 kinds of organization shape: solid,papillary,hemangiomatic,and sclerotic pattern.The cuboidal tumor cells expressed p63(8/9 cases) and expressed SPB,CK,TTF-1,EMA(9/9 cases),polygonal or round cells always expresseed vimentin,TTF-1,EMA(9/9 cases).Conclusions p63 positive cuboidal tumor cells may be the pluripotent primary respiratory epithelium,and immunohistochemical markers of p63 may play an important role in the diagnosis of SH.
