Abstract

Objective To describe the clinicopathologic features and characteristics of pulmonary sclerosing hemangioma( PSH).Methods Clinical data, imaging material and pathologic changes were analyzed in 14 patients with PSH. These cases were studied by HE stain and immunohistochemieal stains. Results PSH was histologically composed of a mixture of papillary, solid, sclerotic or hemorrphagic patterns. There were two types of tumor cells: cuboidal cells and polygonal cells. Immunohistochemical staining revealed that the cuboidal cells expressed TTF-1,CKpan and EMA,and the polygonal cells expressed TTF-1,vimentin and EMA. A few cases expressed Syn,CgA,CD56,ER and PR weakly. None of the cuboidal cells and polygonal cells expressed mesothelium,CD31 and CD34. Conclusion PSH is a rare benign tumor particularly prevalent in middle-aged women. Histopathology of PSH is various. Immunohistochemical stains are the main approaches for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis.
