Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinic pathological features and histogenesis of sclerosing hemangioma of the lung (SHL) and the value of immunohistochemistry in diagnosis of this tumor. Methods The pathological, immunohistochemical data of five SHL cases were summarized with the review of relevant literature. Results SHL exhibited the classic histologic features with variable proportions of solid, papillary, sclerotic and hemangioma-like pattern. Cuboidal cells covered the papillary projections and cleft-slide spaces whereas solid areas and the stalk of papillary projections were composed of pale round or polygonal cells. Immunohistochemical staining revealed that CK and EMA were expressed by cuboidal cells, and Vimentin and EMA were expressed by pale cells. Conclusion SHL showes the characteristic pathomorphological change. The immunohistochemistry is helpful for diagnosis of the disease.
