Self-made Compound Chinese Medicine Combined with Chemotherapy for the Treatment of Advanced Colorectal Cancer

Objective:To observe the effect and toxicity of the regimen of self-made compound Chinese medicine combined with chemotherapy scheme of FOLFOX4 for the treatment of advanced colorectal cancer. Methods:Forty advanced colorectal cancer patients after doing colorectal operation were selected and divided into two groups randomly. The twenty patients in the treat group were treated with Self-made compound Chinese medicine combined with FOLFOX4 chemical therapy and the twenty patients in the control group were treated simply with FOLFOX4 chemical therapy. The seriousness of the adverse effects during the chemical therapy,alleviation of clinical symptoms,improvement of common conditions and changes of serum tumor indicating(CEA,CA199,CA724),tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α)and interleukin 12(IL-12)content,the target of liver and kidney function,blood routine,ECG,were compared and the differences were analysed by statistics. Results:The serum level of CEA,CAl99,alleviating symptoms,improving common conditions and reducing adverse effects(1eucopenia,anemia,nausea and vomit)of chemical therapy in the treat group and control group all had significant difference.The treatment group can obviously improve the quality of survival,is better than the control group. Levels of TNF-α and IL-12 significantly elevated in the test group after treatment but lowered in the control group,showing significant difference between groups(both P0.05). Conclusion:Self-made compound Chinese medicine combined with FOLFOX4 chemical therapy has remarkable therapeutic effect oil reducing adverse effects,it can reduce serum tumor indicating,and it can improve clinical symptoms and common conditions.
