Abstract
Objective: To explore the relationship between recurrent spontaneous abortion and chromosomal abnormalities. Methods: Lymphocyte culture in peripheral blood of 962 couples(1 924 cases) of recurrent spontaneous abortion was conducted, then chromosomal karyotyping was performed;sterile villous samples were obtained from 48 patients of recurrent spontaneous abortion to conduct cell culture, chromosomal preparation and karyotyping. Results: Among 962 couples(1 924 cases) of recurrent spontaneous abortion,239 cases with abnormal karyotypes were detected, the total abnormal rate was 12.4%(239 /1 924).Ninety-one women with abnormal karyotypes were detected, including 3 women with numerical abnormality,65 women with structural abnormality and 23 women with chromosomal polymorphism.A total of 148 men with abnormal karyotypes were detected, including one man with numerical abnormality,46 men with structural abnormality and 101 men with chromosomal polymorpholism.Forty-three(72.1%) villous samples were cultured successfully among 48 villous samples, and 25(58.1%) cases were found with abnormal karyotypes among 43 cases, the main type of abnormal karyotypes was numerical abnormality, trisomy was the most common type. Conclusion: Chromosomal abnormality is one of main causes of recurrent spontaneous abortion, chromosomal examination conducted among the couples of recurrent spontaneous abortion and chorionic villous samples has important significance for directing subsequent pregnancy.
