Abstract
The new summer maize variety Zhengdan 958 was planted at the density of 75 000 plants/hm2,90 000 plants/hm2,105 000 plants/hm2 and 120 000 plants/hm2,respectively.The effects of planting density on the dry matter accumulation,yield traits of single plant and population,ear characters,and dry matter accumulation in seed were studied.The results showed that the effects of planting density on the growth and yield of summer maize were obvious.Under high density,the effect of population on single plant gradually decreased when the planting density exceeded a certain population.The critical value was 90 000 plants/hm2.
