Abstract

[Objective]To investigate the clinical effects of cannulated screw for treating femoral neck fracture.[Method]There were 67 patients(21 male and 46 female, aged 19 to 65 years, averaged 54.7 years) with femoral neck fracture.Twenty cases were classified as undisplaced type(Garden typeⅠand Ⅱ),47 cases as displaced(Garden type Ⅲ and Ⅳ).These patients were treated by cannulated compression screw of internal fixation. All cases were followed up for 18-36 months(averaged 25.8 months).[Result]Bone healing time were 3-6 months(averaged 5.3 months). In undisplaced type, bone healing rate were 100%,femoral head necrosis rate were 15%.In displaced type, bone healing rate were 89.4%,femoral head necrosis rate were 34.0%.According to Harrris score, excellent in 32 cases, good in 21 cases, moderate in 8 cases and fair in 6 cases, and the excellent and good rate were 79.1%.[Conclusion]These results demonstrate that cannulated compression screw is favorable for treating femoral neck fractures. But the level of diagnosis and therapy remaine to improve, because the femoral head necrosis rate in displaced cases are about twice as high as in undisplaced.
