Abstract

Objective To study the relationship of homocysteine and C-reactive protein in patients with type 2diabetes mellitus combined with hypertension and coronary heart disease. Methods 113type 2 diabetes mellitus patients were divided into three groups.Of these patients,45patients had no evidence of atherosclerolic vascular disease(group A),38patients had hypertension(group B)and 30patients had coronary heart disease(group C).38health people were chosen as control. All patients and control were measured with Hcy,C-raective protein levels. Results The Hcy and C-reaction protein levels in T2DM were higher than those in controls(p0.05),Hcy、C-reactive protein levels were significantly elevated in group B,compared with group A(p0.05).Hcy and C-reactive protein levels were significantly elevated in group C,compared with group B(p0.01).There was no correlation between Hcy levels and C-reactive protein. Conclusion Hcy and C-reactive protein levels are significecntly increasecl in patients with type 2diabetes mellitus combined with hypertension and coronary heart disease.High Hcy and high CRP levels are independent risk factors of T2DM combined with vascular disease.
