Abstract

Objective: To investigate the changes of adiponectin and the relation to insulin resistance in type 2 diabetic mellitus(T_2DM). Methods: Blood samples from 64 patients with T_2DM and 30 participants were obtained to determine plasma levels of adiponectin, FPG, FINS, HbA1c, blood lipids and examine the associations between plasma levels of adiponectin and BMI, FINS, HOMA index and blood lipids. Results: Plasma levels of adiponectin was lower in T_2DM than in control subjects and the lowest in T_2DM with obesity. Plasma adiponectin levels were positively correlated with HDL cholesterol and negatively correlated with BMI, HOMA、IR. Conclusions: The plasma adiponectin levels are lower in T_2DM and relative to insulin resistance.
