Abstract
Objective To investigate the relation between serum homocysteine(homocysteine,Hcy)levels and the severity of coronary heart disease. Methods The serum Hcy level was measured in 106 patients with coronary heart disease and 50 healthy controls. Results Levels of the serum Hcy was significantly higher in patients with coronary heart disease than that in healthy controls(P0.01).Hcy levels had an significantly increase trend in patients with stable angina、unstable angina, and acute myocardial infarction(P0.05).Hcy levels also significantly increased with the severity of coronary vessel disease(P0.05).Conclusion Elevated Hcy levels were significantly associated with the risk of coronary heart disease and could serve as a marker of the severity of coronary heart disease.
