Abstract
Objective To investigate the value of HbA_1c in the screening and diagnosing of gestational diabetes mellitus ( GDM).Methods 3h OGTT and HbA_1c assay were performed in 1815 pregnant women with positive results of 50g glucose challenge test(GCT).HbA_1c distributions in subjects with normal glucose tolerance ( NGT),gestational impared glucose tolerance (GIGT) and GDM were compared, and area under curve(AUC) of receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve was calculated. Results There was considerable overlap in HbA_1c distributions among three groups.AUC of ROC curve was 0.658,95% confidence interval(CI) was 0.626~0.690.Conclusions HbA_1c does not apply to the screening and diagnosing of gestational diabetes in early stage.
