Abstract
Objective: To investigate the protective effects of Huangqin Decoction in the preventive treatment of diarrhea induced by irinotecan chemotherapy. Methods: 44 patients with colorectal cancer were randomly divided into a treatment group and control group. The treatment group was given Huangqin Decoction before FOLFIRI chemotherapy; there was no treatment before chemotherapy in the control blank group. And the rate, degree, occurrence time, duration time of diarrhea after chemotherapy were observed. Abdominal pain, hematochezia, fever, leukopenia, abnormal liver and kidney function and so on were recorded. Results: Compared with the control group, the rate of diarrhea was statistically significant( P 0. 05). And the cases of each degree diarrhea were fewer than that of the control group. However, the hematochezia, fever, leukopenia, liver and kidney dysfunction of two groups were not statistically significant( P 0. 05). Conclusion: Huangqin Decoction has effect to prevent chemotherapy-induced diarrhea for the colorectal cancer patients who receives regimens including irinotecan.
