Abstract

Objective: To observe the expression of matrix metalloproteinase MMP-9 in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN) and cervical carcinoma, and to investigate it's significance in the development of CIN and the invasion of cervical squamous cell carcinoma. Methods: Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of MMP-9 in 79 cases of CIN,79 cases of cervical squamous cell carcinoma and 16 cases of normal cervical specimens. Results: The expression of MMP-9 in the cytoplasm of the normal cervical specimens,CIN and the cervical squamous cell carcinoma showed significant difference(P0.01);there was no statistic relationship between the expression of MMP-9 in CIN,cervical squamous cell carcinoma's pathologic ratings(P0.05),but the positive rate of MMP-9 is higher in the higher differentiation carcinoma;the expression of MMP-9 in several clinical stages showed no significant difference(P0.05);but the MMP-9 expression had statistic relationship with lymph nodes metastasis(P0.05). Conclusion: MMP-9 is associated with the development of CIN,the lower pathological stage of cervical squamous cell carcinoma.MMP-9 is correlated with the invasion and metastasis of cervical squamous cell carcinoma.
