Abstract

The esterification of chloroacetic acid with isoamyl alcohol catalyzed by Y-β composite zeolite supported phosphotungstic acid(H3PW12O40/Y-β) catalyst was studied. The effects of catalyst dosage, the molar ratio of isoamyl alcohol to chloroacetic acid, reaction time and repeated times of the catalyst on the yield of isoamyl chloroacetate were investigated. The results showed that the catalyst had the advantages of high catalytic activity, easy to recycle and good reusability. The yield of isoamyl chloroacetate reached93.5% under the optimal reaction condition as follows: chloroacetic acid amount 0.1 mol,the molar ratio of isoamyl alcohol to chloroacetic acid 1.2,catalyst dosage 0.8 g,and reaction time 45 min.
