Abstract

Objective To study the distribution and drug resistance of Acinetobacter baumannii, and offer reasonable experimental data for clinical therapeutics. Methods A total of 104 Acinetobacter baumannii isolates were retrospectively analyzed according to specimen source, infection in different departments and drug-resistance.Results A total strains of 104 Acinetobacter baumannii were isolated,96.2% of them isolated from inpatients, and 3.8%of them isolated from outpatients. The isolation rate of Acinetobacter baumannii was 74.0% in sputum specimens and the majority of the isolates caused respiratory tract infection in neurosurgery(36.5%)and pediatrics(12.5%) department inpatients. The rate of resistance to Gentamicin was the highest(70.2%).97.1% of them were susceptible to meropenem. Conclusion Acinetobacter baumannii is the major opportunistic pathogenic bacteria in hospital infection which shows high rate of resistance to routine antimicrobial agents. The isolates of Acinetobacter baumannii were susceptible to carbapenems.Antimicrobial agents should be used rationally to decrease multi-drug resistance.
