Observation of curative effect of combined surgery for glaucoma and cataract

Abstract

Objective To analyze and summarize method and curative effect of combined surgery for glaucoma and cataract in the treatment of acute angle-closure glaucoma complicated with cataract patients. Methods A total of 30 patients(30 eyes) with angle-closure glaucoma and complicated cataract received phacoemulsification, intraocular lens implantation and trabeculectomy in combined surgery. Their postoperative reactions, vision and intraocular pressure were observed. Results The average postoperative intraocular pressure in 1 month, 6 months and 1 year were respectively(13.1±1.3),(12.6±0.6), and(11.4±0.6) mm Hg(1 mm Hg=0.133 k Pa). They were all obviously lower than that before operation(P0.01). Follow-up for 1 year after operation showed no administration of any intraocular pressure-lowering agents. Among the 30 cases(30 eyes), 17 cases of them had the best corrected visual acuity as 0.6~0.8, 10 cases had it as 0.4~0.5, and 3 cases as 0.1~0.3. Conclusion Combined surgery for glaucoma and cataract provides precise effect. Active preoperative control of intraocular pressure and timely postoperative management of complications can provide good curative effect.
