Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical effects of combined surgery of phacoemulsification, intraocular lens implantation and trabeculectomy for patients with glaucoma and cataract. Methods 37 patients(42 eyes)with glaucoma and cataract underwent the combined surgery. All cases were followed up for 3 to 24 months. The visual acuity, intraocular pressure, filtering bleb and complications were observed. Results The visual acuity of all patients were improved in different degrees 3 months after operation.83.33% of them obtained a vision of 0.3 or better. The intraocular pressure of 41 eyes (97.62%)was 9-16 mm Hg 3 months after operation.36 eyes ( 85.71% ) have functional filtering bleb 6 months after operation. The major postoperative complications were uveitis, corneal edema and transient high intraocular pressure. All complications remissed after treatment by medication. Conclusion Combined surgery in glaucoma with cataract can control intraocular pressure and improve visual acuity. It can avoid the pain of staging surgery to patients, and reduce the postoperative complications. Key words: Glaucoma;  Cataract;  Phacoemulsification ;  Trabecuhectomy
