Abstract
Objective To study the expression of microvessel density(MVD) in colorectal cancer and its relationship with tumor angiogenesis, clinicopathologic features and prognosis. MethodsImmunohistochemical technique was used to detect the expression of MVD in 80 cases of colorectal cancer,30 cases of colorectal adenoma and 30 cases of normal colorectal tissues. The relationship between the expression of MVD and tumor clinicopathologic feature, prognosis of patients was analyzed. ResultsThe MVD of colorectal cancer(30.2±6.3) was significantly higher than that of colorectal adenoma(13.1±1.6)and normal colorectal tissue(6.5±2.7).The MVD of colorectal cancer was correlated with Dukes stage, invasive depth and lymphnode metastasis(P0.01).In colorectal cancer patients, the 5-year survival rate in the high MVD group(35.71%) was significantly lower than that in the low MVD group(71.05%). ConclusionThere is overexpression of MVD in colorectal cancer, which may lead to advanced invasion of tumor and unfavorable prognosis.
