Abstract
Objectives To determine the relationship of the microvessel density (MVD) and metastasis of colorectal carcinoma. Methods The MVD of the 78 colorectal carcinomas was examined by using immunohistochemisty, the correlations of MVD and metastasis of the colorectal carcinomas were analyzed. Results The mean of MVD in 32 patients with metastasis of lymph nodes was higher than in 46 patients with no metastasis of lymph nodes(28.1±8.9 and 23.5±8.2,respectively),P0.05.The mean of MVD in 15 patients with hepatic metastasis was higher than in 63 patients with no hepatic metastasis(33.4±9.3 and 22.4±5.8,respectively),P0.01.MVD did not correlate with age、sex、location of tumor、histological type (P0.05),except for invasive depth(P0.01).Conclusions MVD was positive correlation with invasion and metastasis of colorectal carcinoma. The results of this study showed that MVD plays an important role in prognosticating malignant degree of colorectal carcinoma.
