Abstract
Infertile men have poorer sperm DNA integrity than do fertile men,and this damage may contribute to reducing male reproductive potential.However,the etiology of this damage has not been fully characterized.We sought to examine the relationship,if any,between anti-sperm antibodies and sperm DNA damage in a consecutive series of non-azoospermic,infertile men in order to determine whether anti-sperm antibodies(AsAb) contribute to sperm DNA damage.The integrity of sperm DNA was determined in 20 cases of normal sperm samples and the parameters are treated as references.Total of 432 cases with idiopathic asthenospermia recruited from the reproductive center of our hospital from April 2008 to January 2011.AsAb and sperm DNA activity of all patients' were measured.AsAb positive rate was 10.42% in 432 case of male infertility.In ASAb positive cases,sperm density and viability were lower,semen liquefaction was longer,and DNA fragmentation index(DFI) were more as compared with normal fertile man(P 0.05).The comparison between AsAb positive group and AsAb negative group in infertility cases also displayed significant differences of sperm density,semen liquefaction and the volume of semen(P 0.05),but no significant difference of DFI and pH of semen(P 0.05).In conclusion,antisperm antibody might not affect human sperm DNA activity.
