Abstract

In order to investigate the effects of salicylic acid(SA) on the seed germination and seedling growth of cotton under NaCl stress, the insect-resistant cotton seeds were used as experimental materials. The results showed that high concentration(0.9%) of NaCl significantly suppressed the germination of seeds.Under 0.9% NaCl stress,0.1~1.0 mmol/L SA could obviously increase the quantity, speed and quality of seed germination. The optimum concentration of SA was 0.5 mmol/L.This experiment indicated that SA could reduce the inhibitory effects of salt stress on the seed germination and seedling growth of cotton.
