Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the clinical effects of magnetic attachment denture in restoration of dentition defect in the elderly.Methods:Fifty-one cases were restored by removable denture with 89 magnetic attachments in the elderly, and all the cases were followed up for 6 to 60 months. Results:All of the patients were satisfied with the dentures in retention, masticatory function, esthetic, comfort and stability.Among the 89 abutments,21 were found to have gingivitis, none of them was found to have secondary caries or looseness. Conclusion:Magnetic attachment removable denture is an effective and reliable method in restoration of dentition defect in the elderly, which is helpful for keeping remained roots and alveolar ridge.
