A five-year follow-up study of magnetic attachment denture and the prevention of complications

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the long-term effects of magnetic attachment denture and to investigate the prevention and treatment measures of its complications.Methods: Thirty-three cases were restored by removable denture with 61 magnetic attachments,and followed up for five years.Results: All patients were satisfied with the dentures in retention and comfort.But 4 attachments loosened,and 19 abutments were found to have gingivitis.Conclusion: Magnetic attachment removable denture performs well during the long-term follow-up,but the bonding method for attachment still needs to be improved.
