Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effects of am inoguanidine(AG)in prolonged hemorrhagic shock. Methods 28 rabbits subjected to prolonged hemorrhagic shock a nd resuscitation were randomly divided into hemorrhagic shock group(14 rabbits)a n d AG group(14 rabbits,AG was administered as soon as resuscitation was preformde ).The plasma levels of endotoxin,TNF-α,IL-6,IL-8 and NO were detected at pte sh ock, postshock, just after resuscitation and 0.5h,2h,4h after resuscitation. The survival rates of 24h and 48h were observed. Results The plasma levels of endotoxin,TNF-α,IL-6,IL-8 and NO were markedly higher after shock than those of before shock and maintained a t high level.Compared with shock group, lower plasma levels of endotoxin,TNF-α, IL-6,IL-8 and NO,higher survival rate were observed in AG group. Conclusion The endotoxin,TNF-α,IL-6,IL-8 and NO play an i mportant role in the development of hemorrhagic shock.AG used as a selective inh ibitor of the inducible isoform of nitric oxide synthase can improve the outcome of prolonged hemorrhagic shock.
