Abstract
Objective:To study the changes of the serum soluble intercellular adhesion molecule 1(SICAM 1)and its correlation with congestive heart failure(CHF).Methods:Serum SICAM 1,Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha(TNF α),Interleukin 6(IL 6),plasma Endothelium 1(ET 1) were measured in 45 patients with CHF and 20 age matched control patients. SICAM 1 was measured by Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay,and TNF α,IL 6,ET 1 by radio immunology assay. Results:The levels of SICAM 1, TNF α, IL 6,and ET 1 were significantly elevated in patients with CHF as compared with control group. SICAM 1 was positively correlated with IL 6 ( r =0.4511, P 0.01),and with ET 1( r =0.4179, P 0.01).Conclusion:The role of SICAM 1 in the pathogenesis of CHF may correlate with immune activation and endothelium dysfunction.
