Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical effect of GCIX glass ionomers used as pit and fissure sealant in the prevention of fissure caries with fissure sealing. Methods 136 children from 6 to 7 years old were involved into this study. 272 completely erupted first permanent molars from upper and nether side were selected as experimental group, and were given fissure sealing with GCIX glass ionomers. And the corresponding tooth of each one in the experimental group was selected as control group. Reservations of pit and fissure sealant were observed after 1, 2 and 3 years of the fissure sealing, respectively. Results In the follow-up of 1year, 2 years and 3 years, GCIX glass ionomers were found to be reserved as 81.3%, 73.2% and 58.1% of the initial, respectively, and the occurrence of dental caries decreased to be lower of the initial, respectively. Conclusions GCIX glass ionomers could be well used as pit and fissure sealant in the prevention of fissure caries with fissure sealing. And it was suggested to supply apparent clinical therapy effect and respectful application value.
