Application of Action Research in English Language Teaching and Research

Teacher action research is an effective method to enhance teaching professional level.Action research is a research paradigm in processing which is based on constructivist epistemology.The main idea is that people construct the world according to their living experience.The significance of action research lies in changing teaching and research situation of English language teaching which is at present dominant of language skills and units of words,phrases and sentences so that language teaching research will be linked to teaching reality in the classroom.The methods used are observation,portfolio and reflective journal.Three steps in research are to find a problem,to analysis the problem and to solve the problem.Teacher can creatively use these methods based on their teaching reality and inquiry.
