The effects of continuous nursing intervention on the limb function and the quality of life in stroke patients with hemiplegia

Objective:To explore the effects of continuous nursing intervention on the limb function and the quality of life in stroke patients with hemiplegia.Methods:85 stroke patients with hemiplegia from Neurology department of Tianjin HuanHu Hospital since Jun.to Dec.2007 were randomly divided into the intervention group and the control group.All the patients were given the routine care.Patients in the intervention group also received a continuous rehabilitation nursing intervention.Data were collected before intervention and the following 3 months after discharge hospital including the limb function and the quality of life (SF-36).Results:The BI score in the intervention group was higher than that in the control group (P0.05),and the BI score after the intervention was higher than that before the intervention in the two groups (P0.05).In the intervention group,patients’ scores of the physical health and mental health after the intervention were higher than those before the intervention (P0.05).All domains in SF-36 except general health and vitality after the intervention had higher score than those before the intervention (P0.05).In the control group,the results revealed after the intervention compared with that before the intervention in SF-36 only the score of physical health was higher (P0.05);the domains’ scores of physical functioning and physical role were increased (P0.05),but the scores of other domains were found no different significantly (P0.05).Conclusion:The continuous rehabilitation nursing intervention could effectively improve the ability of daily living and the quality of life of stroke patients with hemiplegia.
