Abstract

Objective:To explore the MR diagnosis and differential diagnosis of central ncurocytoma.Methods:8 patients with pathologically proved central neurocytoma were retrospectively reviewed, and the MRI appearances were observed. Results:Among the 8 cases,7 cases lesions located adjacent to the lateral ventricle near Monro's foramen, one lesion located at the third ventricle. All 8 cases lesions appeared as mixed cystic-solid pattern. On T1WI,the solid portion showed iso-or hypo-intensity and the cystic part showed hypointensity. On T2WI,the solid portion showed iso-or hyper-intensity and the cystic part showed hyperintensity. The cystic portion appeared ashoney-comb-like areas located at the periphery or inside the tumor. After administration of Gd-DTPA intravenously, the solid portion showed marked or medium enhancemen. Conclusion:Central neurocytoma in the lateral ventricle enjoys typical location;considering the age of patients,non-contrast and contrast MR findings, correct diagnosis of central neurocytoma can be made.
