Abstract
Objective:To study the MRI characteristics of central neurocytoma. Methods:To analyze retrospectively the MRI features of 9 patients with central neurocytoma confirmed by surgery and pathology. Results:Among the 9 cases,6 lesions located adjacent to the anterior lateral ventricle near Monro′s foramen, one case each located at posterior part of the body of right lateral ventricle, the third ventricle and the right frontal lobe. All 9 lesions appeared as mixed cystic-solid pattern. On T1WI,the solid portion showed iso-or hypo-intensity and the cystic part showed hypointensity. On T2WI,the solid portion showed iso-or hyper-intensity and the cystic part showed hyperintensity. The cystic portion appeared as honeycomb-like areas located at the periphery or inside the tumor.5 lesions showed hyperintensity on DWI.After administration of GD-DTPA intravenously, the solid portion showed marked or medium enhancement. Conclusion:MRI in combination with pathology provides helpful information in the diagnosis of central neurocytoma.
