Abstract

Objective To discuss MRI features of central neurocytoma, and to make a further understanding of the disease. Methods MRI findings in 8 cases with pathologically-proved neurocytoma were retrospectively analyzed. The patients included 5 males and 3 females , aged 21~45 with the average of 26.7 years. Results All tumors were located at the septum pellucidum between the lateral ventricles or the third ventricle close to Monro foramen, presenting as iso-signal on T1WI and iso- or hyper-signal on T2WI. Cystic degeneration and hemorrhage within the tumor were seen in several cases. The tumor showed a sharp border. Conclusion Central neurocytoma should be considered when a mass located at septum pellucidum is found in a young patient.
