Effects of different administrations of granisetron on postoperative nausea and vomiting during postoperative analgesia

Abstract

Objective To compare the differences in effect of granisetron in different administrations for the prevention on postoperative nausea and vomiting during postoperative analgesia. Methods Sixty Laparoscopic cholecystectomy patients were divided into 4 groups with ASAⅠ-Ⅱ. Analgesia pump joint intravenous drug group (group A) 、Analgesia pump drug group (group B) 、intravenous drug group (group C) 、control group (group D),15 cases each.. Analgesic outcome was evaluated by VAS at 0 ,1 ,3 ,6 ,12 and 24h during PCIA ,and nausea and vomiting were recorded at the same time points. Results There were not significant differences of VAS among the 4 groups(P﹥0.05). There were not significant differences of the rate in the nausea and vomiting between group A and C or group B and D (P ﹥ 0.05). There were significant differences of the rate in the nausea and vomiting between group A and B or group C and D (P 0.05). Conclusions Intravenous injection of granisetron is better than continuous infusion of it in reducing postoperative nausea and vomiting during PCIA.
