Abstract

Objective To observe the efficacy of granisetron in preventing postoperative nausea and vomiting after intraventous-inhalation combined anesthesia. Methods Sixty patients undergoing intraventous and inhalation combined anesthesia were randomly divided into two groups: granisetron group S (n=30) and control group D(n=30). The patients in group S were intravescularly administered with 40 ug/kg granisetron 5 minutes before anesthesia was induced, while the patients in group D were not. Nausea and vominting, sedation of patients were observed in the following 24 hours. Results The incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting was 10% in group S and 70% in group D,respectively. There was great significance between them. There was no significant difference of sedation score between groups S and D. Conclusion Preventive administration of granisetron can efftively prevent postoperative nausea and vomiting .
