Abstract

Objective To discuss the value of laparoscopic spermatic vein ligation for the treatment of varicocele. Methods The clinical data of 31 varicocele patients were analyzed retrospectively. All cases were performed laparoscopic high ligation of spermatic vein via anterior extroperitoneal space. Results All the operations were successfully completed. The average operation time was 43.5 minutes and the mean hospital stay was 3 days.During the 3 to 12 months follow-up,the clinical symptoms disappeared in all patients without recurrence. In the 6 cases of abnormal results of semen routine detection,5 cases were achieved distinct improvement and 1 was unchanged. Conclusion Laparoscopic high ligation of spermatic vein via anterior extroperitoneal space is a mini-invasive and simple procedure for varicocele with advantages of noninterference of peritoneal cavity, less complications and quicker postoperative recovery.
