THERAPEUTIC EFFECT OF MORTIERELLA ISABELLINA EXTRACTS ON HYPERLIPIDEMIA

Abstract

The effects of Mortierella isabellina power and its extracts on reducing blood lipid were investigated. Experimental mice of Kunming strain with hyperlipidemia were fed with M. isabellina power and the extracts for two months, and then the levels of serum total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and high density lipoprotein (HDL) were tested. The results showed that M. isabellina and its extracts had very strong positive effects on prevention and regulation of hyperlipidemia in rats: the serum TC and the TG in rats' serum were lower, and the HDL in rats' serum were higher in the animals of experimental group than in those of control.
