Abstract
It has been indicated in some articles that the doctrines of Zen Buddhism(Chan) included in Liao Zhai Zhi Yi can be seen at two levels, namely, the inner level and the outer level. The former is how the ordinary people at that time interpreted about the Zen Buddhism, while the latter is made obvious in being compared with literatures of other religions and beliefs. The doctrines of Zen Buddhism embodied in Liao Zhai Zhi Yi can be divided into three categories with regards to their existing forms: existing as a whole,as a part and as a decoration.By studying them, this paper helps to enlarge the research fields of the ancient fictions.
