The expression of Foxp3 and TGF-β1 in pterygium

Abstract

To study the roles of Foxp3 and TGF-β1 played in pathogenesis of human pterygium,we used immunohistochemistry and ELISA technique to investigate the expression difference of Foxp3 and TGF-β1 between human pterygium and the normal conjunctiva tissue.The results showed that the expression levels of Foxp3 and TGF-β1 in pterygium were stronger than those in the normal conjunctiva tissue(P 0.05),and Foxp3 and TGF-β1levels were positively correlated in pterygium(r=0.614,P 0.05),suggesting over-expression of Foxp3 and TGF-β1may play an important role in the pathogenesis of pterygium.
