Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between Th1/Th2 cytokines and TCM syndrome differentiation of CA.Methods 42 cases of CA(24 cases of damp and heat fullness type as I Type and 18 cases of weak body resistance resulting in existence of pathogenic factors as II Type)enrolled in this study. We measured the expression of IL-2,IFN-γ,IL-4,IL-10 mRNA of the peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMC) of CA by means of RT-PCR. Results The results showed that the expression of IL-4 mRNA of Th2 Type cytokine was predominant in II Type of CA and that of IFN-γmRNA of Th1 Type cytokine was predominant in I Type of CA (P 0.05). Conclusion These data indicate that the imbalance of Th1/Th2 cytokine might exist in patient with CA,and that increased level of Th2 and decreased level of Th1 might play an important role in the pathogenesis of II Type of CA.The prognosis of CA may be better if the patients of CA was typed and treated according to the differential diagnosis and expression of Th cytokines.
